Carnival Party!

Last weekend was Rebekah's 3rd birthday and we celebrated by throwing a carnival themed party! This brought back many fun memories from my carnival themed wedding.

Despite the runny noses, cold hands, and wind blown hair, we had a blast!  My sister-in-law Michelle (Bekah's mom) did so much of the work.  It was such a bummer that the weather made it difficult to keep anything in place.  There are definitely more pictures of the kids in this post... but they are all adorable! So enjoy!

Hot dogs, lemonade, popcorn and chips are the perfect carnival foods! I did not forget the colorful "swirly" straws!

Watching the kids play the games and win tickets was so fun!

The kids could have bounced all day and night in the bouncy house! I loved their static hair!

What is a carnival without lots of sweets!?

Lemonade for Sale!

Last weekend the Bates family put on a huge family yard sale.  When I heard "yard sale", I immediately thought to do a lemonade stand.  Creating this lemonade stand brought back so many childhood memories.  As a kid, I was always on the corner selling something.  I remember even selling all of my American Girl Dolls and their outfits (some homemade) to a lucky customer for less than $10.  You can ask my mother how she felt about that!  Whether it was candy, toys, flowers, or snow cones, I always had something to sell.

These boys (my nephews) were awesome employees!  I taught them some great lessons on how to run a business.  For example, don't shout, "what do you want!?" to the customers. Do not tell the customers how much money we are making.  Pick up the donuts with a napkin and not your hand. They also learned that you can't take 50% off a 25 cent cup of lemonade.

Later we found out we had some competition down the block.  Those kids were selling candy.  This sweet girl wanted to make a trade.  We considered buying them out. Smart kids!
Ethan made this awesome sign.

Emmie (my niece) kept lounging around, eating the donuts.  If she wasn't so adorable she might have been fired.

She also made good use of the items being sold at the yard sale.

Every drink tastes better coming from a colorful straw!

We had a great time and ended up with a grand total of $15! How can you say no to lemonade being sold by these cuties?
